JOB DESCRIPTION: 

This role leads the National Trust's marketing and community engagement portfolio by developing strategic programs that promote opportunities for the community to value Western Australia's heritage. A particular focus will be to drive community engagement through education, visitor engagement, advocacy and heritage services linked to the National Trust Strategic Plan.

Duties and key responsibilities:

1. Leads the National Trust's marketing and community engagement portfolio by developing strategic programs that promote opportunities for the community to value Western Australia's heritage;
2. Manage the day-to-day operations of the portfolio and represents its aspirations and operations internally and externally;
3. Leads the Aboriginal engagement program;
4. Drives community engagement through marketing, education, visitor engagement, communictions, advocacy and heritage services linked to the National Trust Strategic Plan;
5. Positions the National Trust as the pre-eminent community organisation chartered with the conservation and interpretation of our heritage;
6. Builds the National Trust's brand values and champions the brand;
7. Develops and leads a strategic education program that engages both school students and the broader community;
8. Develops and leads an activation program to increase visitation at National Trust places;
9. Develops relationships and programs which advance the National Trust's cause and resources;
10. Develops and leads a strategic membership acquisition and development program to increase the number of members and the quality of their membership experience;
11. Develops and leads a strategic volunteer acquisition and development program;
12. Ensures the experience of place at each National Trust site open to the public is presented in a way which is internationally competitive;
13. Develops and leads a strategic approach to the delivery of marketing and communications across all media;
14. Identifies and promotes staff training and development opportunities;
15. Responsible for the budgetary and financial requirements and reporting processes in all areas of responsibility; and
16. Other duties as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.


SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Essential:

1. Demonstrated understanding of the role heritage pays in the cultural ecology;
2. Demonstrated competency in developing successfully community engagement programs;
3. Demonstrated understanding of the role of education in engaging the community to value heritage;
4. Demonstrated experience in leading marketing, communications and business development programs;
5. Demonstrated ability to conceive and execute strategic plans across multiple platforms;
6. Demonstrated leadership and management experience in a complex organisation with a community focus;
7. Sound, demonstrated information technology skills including the use of MS Office Suite of software including Word, Excel ,Outlook and Power Point presentations;
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills;
9. Possession of a "C" Class Driver's Licence; and
10. National Police Clearance.

Desirable:

1. Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Community Engagement, Communcations, Public Relations, or other related disciplines;
2. Experience working with a membership based organisation; and
3. Experience working with volunteers.


FOR FURTHER JOB RELATED INFORMATION: 

Following an initial twelve month fixed-term contract with a six month probationary period, subject to satisfactory performance and financial viability, a longer term extension may be offered. Permanency in the future will be subject to Clause 11 of the Premier's Circular 2018/02.
