This is a nine (9) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2023 with possible extension (12 months) and/or permanency
East Waikiki Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join their friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will ideally exhibit highly developed interpersonal skills and the capacity to work cooperatively with all others to create a welcoming and vibrant environment for students and families. Applicants with sound curriculum knowledge and pedagogy that encompasses 'Critical and Creative Thinking' are highly desirable.
Ideally the successful applicant will deliver whole-school programs in line with the principles of Teaching for Impact. (QTS) Whole school approaches at East Waikiki Primary School include Letters and Sounds and imath.
East Waikiki PS is a public school that caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our dedicated and professional staff maintain a vibrant learning environment which supports each child, each day to achieve success. Our teachers employ evidence-based strategies and take shared responsibility to maximise the effect they have on student learning. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
