About the role
The Recreation Officer coordinates and delivers recreational activities including group sport, individual fitness, and passive activities to support prison operations. The position provides on the job instruction and supervision to prisoners who work in this area.
Bunbury Regional Prison is looking for someone who can demonstrate experience in the organisation and delivery of constructive recreational activities in a safe and appropriate manner as well as a demonstrated knowledge of sport fitness safety.
Recreation plays a key role in the physical & mental health and wellbeing of all prisoners.
This position is one of four Recreation Officers on staff at Bunbury. Due to this position being a 7 day/week role, there is a requirement to work every second weekend on a rolling roster.
Recreational activities generally run in line with community schedules for AFL football and cricket seasons although a variety of other sporting interests are conducted.
Bunbury is looking for an active and committed member to sporting and health needs that meet the entire prison cohort and can appropriately design and conduct a mix of passive, individual and recreational programs.
Eligibility
C Class Drivers Licence.
Relevant knowledge/experience in organising and delivering recreational activities, knowledge of sport fitness safety and the ability to encourage participation.
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector it is essential that you are an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the duration of the contract.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however an appointment is not guaranteed.
