The Opportunity:
The Department has five (5) newly created Regional Director roles located in the following regions:
- Kimberley
- Pilbara
- Mid West/Gascoyne
- Goldfields/Esperance
- Great Southern/Wheatbelt/South West
These roles are responsible for the strategic leadership of an operational directorate in a regional location, ensuring effective delivery of services and negotiated solutions for clients, stakeholders and government, in line with departmental and government objectives.
These exciting new roles will be instrumental in implementing the new Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021 in regional areas, including working with Aboriginal organisations and other key stakeholders across multiple sectors. The Act provides a modern framework for the recognition, protection, conservation and preservation of Aboriginal cultural heritage and recognises the fundamental importance of Aboriginal cultural heritage to Aboriginal people.
These are full-time positions however consideration may be given to part-time arrangements.
Relocation expenses, a vehicle and GROH housing may be available to the successful applicant dependent on the location of the position.
This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
To be successful for these positions, you need to demonstrate:
- Extensive experience leading and managing in a multidisciplinary environment, managing multiple functions.
- Significant, in-depth knowledge of current and emerging trends in Aboriginal cultural heritage and related business environments.
- Ability to collaboratively and strategically develop and promote an overall vision for the Heritage and Property Services division in line with stakeholder and broader community values, and government priorities.
- Extensive experience or qualification in a relevant field including (but not limited to) Aboriginal cultural heritage, heritage conservation and management, environmental science, project management, public policy.
- Strong understanding of business, financial and human resource management within a public sector context.
Competencies outlined in the Public-Sector Capability Profile for Level 8 are applicable to this role i.e. shapes and manages strategy; achieves results; builds productive relationships; exemplifies personal integrity and self-awareness; communicates and influences effectively.
