Kelmscott Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teacher to join our school. We are looking for a highly competent teacher who ideally has an understanding of contemporary instructional strategies and a detailed knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum.
As a Teacher at Kelmscott SHS, you will ideally exhibit innovation and creativity in your classroom practices and cater for student diversity, including those who have diagnosed disabilities and Gifted and Talented (GATE) students. The successful applicant will lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12 and support the HASS programs to achieve set targets in the School Business Plan. You should have the required knowledge and skills to differentiate your teaching; provide contemporary and meaningful learning experiences for all student cohorts; and apply a broad range of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Experience in teaching Economics and lower secondary are highly desirable.
Kelmscott SHS work from a school-wide Teaching and Learning Instructional Framework addressing high impact teaching strategies. Teachers will design and deliver lessons aligned to the Framework and receive coaching and feedback. We are seeking a highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and desire for continuous improvement.

Kelmscott SHS is a school of opportunity for students offering endorsed Specialist Programs in Agriculture, Music and GATE Secondary Selective Entrance Program. The school also offers a range of Kelmscott Extension Programs (KEP) in Mathematics, Science, English and Humanities and Social Sciences.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements; and
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
