The Opportunities
Control Systems Officer / Trainee:
In this Level 4 role, you will be responsible for maintaining the performance of Control Systems, encompassing the control and communications-based systems on the network, to ensure the reliability and availability of real-time control systems for efficient train operations. In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring that all train control systems maintenance, repairs and associated works are completed to the Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) and relevant standards and customer requirements.
There are currently four (4) permanent positions available for immediate filling.
The ideal candidate will have a thirst for business improvement with the following technical capabilities:

The successful applicants will have the ability to work shift work and weekend work as required.
Engineer – Operational Technology:
In this Level 5 role, you will provide engineering support for the maintenance, design, construction, upgrades and modifications of the branch assets; contributing to the overall performance, reliability and compliance of the PTA Operational Technology network. This support will be predominately focused on the recent addition the Airport Line, and will be responsible for the development of a comprehensive Asset Management Strategy for the newly installed Operational Technology assets. There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following technical and leadership capabilities:
- Relevant professional qualifications that would satisfy the admission requirement for Professional membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
- Recent experience in Control systems; including Programmable Logic Controllers and SCADA systems; though design, commissioning and operations and maintenance phases
- Demonstrated recent experience in fault finding on Operational Technology Systems and associated field equipment.
- Proven experience in providing engineering support in the planning, design and delivery of maintenance and/or construction works in an operational asset intensive environment.
- Proven experience of applying asset management frameworks asset management strategy.
- Well-developed leadership and management skills, including the ability to empower teams and individuals and to provide support that enables the organisation to succeed.
Control Systems Team Leader:
In this Level 6 role, you will ensure all aspects of the Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) operational control systems and related services are available, performing and installed, and maintained to meet customer’s needs in an effective and efficient manner.
There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following technical and leadership capabilities:
- Relevant professional qualifications that would satisfy the admission requirement for Professional membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia.
- Recent experience in Control systems; including Programmable Logic Controllers and SCADA systems; though design, commissioning and operations and maintenance phases
- Demonstrated recent experience in fault finding on Operational Technology Systems and associated field equipment.
- Proven experience in providing engineering support in the planning, design and delivery of maintenance and/or construction works in an operational asset intensive environment.
- Proven experience of applying asset management frameworks asset management strategy.
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership to others that contributes to the achievement of agreed outcomes for a team.

As this is an open pool you can apply at any time. Assessment of applications will be conducted on a regular basis with the first round of interview assessment intended to be held in the early to middle stages of February 2023.
This is a pool recruitment process where suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 24 months from which full-time, part-time, permanent or fixed term appointments with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency will be made.
