Queens Park Primary School (PS) is looking for a vibrant and efficient Library Officer to add to our team.
The Library Officer will work in partnership with staff to create a welcoming and vibrant library environment for students and families, using creative and engaging approaches that respond to the interests of the students.
The successful applicant should possess the ability to create an inviting and engaging atmosphere in the library and collaborate with staff to promote literacy throughout the school.
Upon appointment, the Library Officer will be invited to contribute to our upcoming renovations, working with an open-minded team to create and manage an engaging and organised space for the school community. They will engage with school events and make the Library a hub of knowledge, sharing their own love of books with our students.
The Library Officer is responsible for ensuring library records are up to date and library resources are maintained, processed, and shared so they are accessible and available to students and staff.
Skills in personal organisation and communication, and the ability to work independently and efficiently, are highly regarded. A sound understanding of library systems and processes, including Oliver, is desirable. The Library Officer will monitor the library budget and stocktake, recommend and purchase new library resources, and communicate regularly with staff and students to maintain an engaging and refreshed space that the school community appreciates and utilises.
Queens Park PS, an Independent Public School, is a small, friendly school centrally located between Welshpool Road and the Armadale Rail Line and approximately ten kilometres from the CBD. Queens Park PS was established in 1905 in a nearby community hall. It was relocated to its present site in 1906.
The staff are dedicated, compassionate professionals with a balance of experienced and graduate teachers. Support and teaching staff are committed to providing an educational program that is relevant to the individual learning needs of all students. Since becoming an Independent Public School in 2015, we have introduced a strong music program, continued with a strong focus in Oral Language and have begun the implementation of Digital Technologies including coding and robotics.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
- Ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spread sheets and word processing.
- Experience in providing administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment;
- Complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
