Government Section Labour Relations (GSLR) is a division of the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and we are the team responsible for coordinating industrial and workforce issues across the WA public sector. That’s a big responsibility when you realise our work directly impacts almost 160,000 employees! We want to increase the diversity of our workforce  and improve equal opportunity outcomes for employees. We have a proven track record of developing our people and advancing their careers.  We’ve also built an excellent team culture where our people are engaged and appreciated.

What is the Aboriginal Employment Program?

The AEP is a diversity and inclusion initiative that sits within DMIRS Aboriginal Employment Strategy and the Diversity and Inclusion Plan.  It is a 12-month program which provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with employment and career development opportunities.  The program commences in February 2023.

Benefits of the AEP program include:

  • Permanent employment upon successful completion of the 12-month program;
  • Professional learning and development and on the job learning;
  • Support and guidance from an Aboriginal Strategy Coordinator, sponsor, mentor and Aboriginal staff network;
  • Office location close to public transport;
  • Paid cultural leave; and
  • Great work/life balance through flexible working arrangements.
