We currently have one (1) Permanent Part-Time Vacancy for immediate filling.

The role is shared with another Volunteer Coordinator working 52.5hrs per fortnight across a seven-day rotating roster which includes weekends.

About the role

Volunteers play an integral role at the Western Australian Museum, enriching the visitor experience. The Volunteer Coordinator supervises the volunteers onsite at the WA Museum Boola Bardip, overseeing the development of activation programs that assist the volunteers to interpret gallery, site, and exhibition content.

The role works directly with other programming and front-of-house teams to facilitate volunteers, supporting the public outreach and education programs, and generally welcomes visitors. A focus of the role is to conduct recruitment, induction, and training of volunteers and make sure the volunteers’ work operates in a safe and happy environment. 

About you

You are a dynamic, self-motivated, organised, and efficient person who enjoys working in a collaborative environment. You are outgoing and enjoy communicating with a diverse range of people and believe in creating a fun, supportive, and safe space for volunteers to contribute.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Develop dynamic and impactful volunteer programs where you support and provide supervision to volunteers;
  • be responsible for the orientation, placement, rostering, and supervision of our motivated and diverse volunteers at the WA Museum;
  • contribute to the implementation of health and safety processes, ensuring program compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020; and
  • work collaboratively across program teams to devise and support program development and implementation.

Eligibility to Apply

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.
