The Collection Services Directorate collects materials that capture, preserve and tell the stories of Western Australia’s rich history. The Directorate also has a critical role in the acquisition of physical and digital materials for the State Library and for over 200 public libraries across Western Australia.

Vacancy
We have a permanent, full-time (75 hours per fortnight) role available.

The Role
We are seeking a positive and effective leader to guide our Collection Care team and provide strategic management for the State Library’s;
- digitisation, born-digital and digital preservation programmes;
- physical collection care including conservation, and collections storage; and
- collections access support for exhibitions and online content.
As part of the senior management team, this role contributes to strategic planning, and the development and implementation of organisational projects and programs to deliver the State Library’s objectives.
About You
You will have a passion for preserving collections while making them discoverable. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of modern trends, developments and innovative technologies in digitisation management and preservation standards for digital and physical heritage collections.
As a confident communicator and leader, you will build effective relationships within your team, your State Library colleagues and external stakeholders.
Excellent planning and organisational skills are also required to initiate, plan and deliver projects and identifying ongoing opportunities for improvement.

Pre-Employment Integrity Checks
So the community can be confident in our staff and the services we provide to the community we conduct pre-employment integrity checks. As part of this process suitable candidates will be asked to provide:
- ID documents that prove their identity and any name changes.
- Documents that prove they are an Australian citizen or hold permanent residency (or hold a valid working visa covering the term of the fixed term contract).
- A National Police Clearance Certificate (no older than 6 months).
- Two referees (a line manager is preferred) that can verify their employment history, including their role and responsibilities, conduct, performance, and reasons for leaving.
Depending on the role there may be additional checks, which include:
- Confirmation of educational qualifications and professional memberships applicable to the position with the issuing organisation.
