You will be working in the Division responsible for delivering the METRONET’s high value and high complex major transport projects. As one of the largest single investments in public transport the city has seen, METRONET will help positively change how people live and travel in Perth.

The Role

As a senior member of the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery division, the Project Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and technically directing the planning, design, development and/or implementation and review of rail infrastructure within the development and construction of Major Transport Infrastructure Projects for the PTA.

The position proactively investigates and reports on issues and potential risks and provides specialist technical advice to the Managing Director, other Project Directors, stakeholders and third parties in relation to rail infrastructure. In this position you will consult extensively with stakeholders and foster/maintain strategic relationships critical to the projects’ success.

About you

The successful candidate will have highly developed leadership skills, including a high level of initiative, the ability to manage the impact of change in the workplace, people management and team building skills. Your ability to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems and high level negotiation/persuasion skills are crucial to your success in this role.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification suitable for admission as a full member to the Institution of Engineers Australia and/ or extensive experience in a rail infrastructure discipline.
  • Extensive recent and relevant experience in the management of railway or similar infrastructure works including the EM4P process.
  • High level project management skills, including implementing rigorous processes and controls, and completion of a complex project on time and budget.
  • Well developed project and contract management skills, including a proven ability to manage complex projects and contracts.

This is a pool recruitment process where suitable applicants will be placed in a pool for 12 months from which fixed term appointments with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency will be made.  Currently there is one (1) full time fixed term position available until 30 June 2025 with the possibility of further extension(s) and/or permanency.
