Appointment Pool
Flinders Park Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of School Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2023.
As the School Officer you will be integral to the day-to-day running of the front office as well as various communications with staff in relation to the school's operations. Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to the long term vision for Flinders Park PS and have strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide a high level of leadership, management and administrative support.
A focus on teamwork, self-motivation, initiative, attention to detail and excellence in customer service delivery is important to be suitable in this role. Suitable applicants for this role will assist the school administration with enrolment of students and transfer of students between schools. There is a focus on public relations, such as preparing the school newsletter, enrolment materials and publications, and maintaining the Flinders Park PS website and knowledge in that area will be highly regarded. As our School Officer, your duties will also include assisting the Manager Corporate Services with duties such as financial transactions, faults management and staff induction.
It would be highly desirable for applicants to ideally have a good working knowledge of Student Information System (SIS), RM Billing, RM Finance, Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) and MGM Outreach.
Flinders Park PS is located in the City of Albany, 400 kilometres south of Perth. The school opened in 1978 and caters for kindergarten to year 6. Currently there are 409 students enrolled; with 5% of the population Aboriginal.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and /or preparing financial returns.
- Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course; and
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
