Shenton College is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and collaborative Manager of Vocational Pathways.

The Manager of Vocational Pathways will provide educational leadership in the delivery, development, implementation, and management of sustainable VET pathways for students at Shenton College. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for someone with strong knowledge of senior schooling, VET, School Curriculum & Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements, University and TAFE requirements and pathways, and Departmental systems.
The successful applicant will lead a highly committed and dedicated team supporting students in their senior schooling journey and subsequent post school transition to employment, training, or further education. To be successful for this role, you should be an inspirational leader, provide support and direction to teachers and students and possess excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will have oversight of student records and effective management of school information systems within the area. Current relevant qualifications in the area of Vocational Education would be highly regarded.
Strong organisational skills and extensive knowledge of career pathways, WACE requirements; VET pathways, higher education pathways and current industry requirements is vital for this role. Applicants should have sound knowledge and understanding of compliance requirements aligned to VET delivered to Secondary Students. Shenton College offers a variety of qualifications through third party agreements with the successful applicant providing support and guidance to trainers delivering within the school. An understanding of the local community context is an advantage.
A variety of qualifications are delivered at Shenton College ranging from Certificate II – Certificate IV qualifications. A number of students also access qualifications offered through external Registered Training Organisation offsite. The College’s Futures Program is a new initiative that supports students with their external training pathway options with a three-day at school two-day offsite model. Students are completing ATAR/General courses through this model in addition to accessing a range of qualifications from Certificate II to Diploma. Many of these students are also engaged in work placement.
The ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a whole school setting and working as part of a senior leadership team is an essential requirement of the role. The successful applicant will use effective change management strategies to lead the College community to continually reflect on practices and data, and to develop opportunities for improvement and engagement. They will have exemplary interpersonal skills and sound knowledge of how to support the College’s Independent Public-School structure.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
