The Opportunity:
This role is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our stakeholders on the journey with us, through meaningful engagement and early, open and transparent communication, enabling sustainable growth opportunities so communities are best placed to thrive and become places where people want to live, work and recreate. We do this while respecting the balance of historic and cultural heritage and the natural environment. This role supports the management, promotion and preservation of cultural heritage and fostering good outcomes for Aboriginal places, and promoting regulatory compliance through administration of statutory functions.
Successful outcomes of the role are the timely and effective fulfilment of project work relating to Aboriginal heritage across Western Australia aligned with Divisional and Departmental strategic and operational plans, and providing appropriate advice to stakeholders relating to the Aboriginal Heritage Act.
We currently have one (1) fixed-term position to 30/6/2023 with the possibility of extension or permanency. This is a full-time position, (however consideration may be given to applicants seeking part-time opportunities.) This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.

To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Awareness of Aboriginal cultural heritage sensitivities and confidentialities surrounding heritage matters.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and planning, including delivering projects on time and on budget
- Ability to apply research, analytical and problem-solving skills in developing and implementing innovative solutions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to negotiate and facilitate effective outcomes for Aboriginal Australians
- Demonstrated work experience in using Microsoft packages and the ability to use recording devices such as GPS and desktop mapping systems
- Knowledge of and/or experience in current and emerging issues and trends in Aboriginal affairs
Competencies outlined in the Public-Sector Capability Profile for Level 5 are applicable to this role i.e. shapes and manages strategy; achieves results; builds productive relationships; exemplifies personal integrity and self-awareness; communicates and influences effectively.
