Shenton College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Head of Student Support for appointment to a permanent vacancy, commencing Term 1, 2023.
We are a boldly ambitious and proudly public school, committed to delivering the highest quality education to every student in our care. As a learning community, we nurture curiosity, collaboration, and a sense of responsibility towards others. This is a leadership role framed by our Business Plan aspirations dedicated to developing Successful Students and Powerful Learners. The Shenton College focus on Collaboration, Curiosity and Care allows us to focus on the whole child not just the academic child – we seek to empower them to be independent and confident learners so that they can be purposeful contributors to an increasingly interdependent world. Our continued success is built on solid foundations and on the skills of an outstanding team of professional staff.
Our community is organised within a dedicated Middle School (Years 7-8), Lower Senior School (Years 9-10) and Upper Senior School (Years 11-12), each of which is led by a Head of School. With over 2600 students we have established a comprehensive student support program that is guided by our 2025 Business Plan – particularly Successful Students & Powerful Learners. Our student support professional staff presently includes three School Psychologists, three School Nurses, four Student Support Officers and school Chaplains, working alongside Year Leaders and the respective Heads of School. Working with the College executive team the successful candidate will lead the student support staff and program from offices within Lemnos House (located in our heritage precinct, adjacent to the Shenton Learning Hub).
As the Program Coordinator – Head of Student Support, you will work collaboratively with college leaders to provide effective leadership and coordination of student support staff and processes across the college, including practical and strategic responses to matters concerning student social-emotional wellbeing and mental health as well as those concerned with student behaviour, participation and engagement. Ideally, you should have a sound understanding of Department policies and relevant legislation and should display a capacity to work collaboratively with staff to implement intervention strategies and monitoring processes to support all students but particularly those deemed a high risk. You will have a leading role in the case management of our students considered at educational risk through your knowledge of effective intervention, monitoring and reporting strategies. There is an associated responsibility to establish and manage administrative and operational systems within student support, in order to ensure the effective operation of your portfolio within the College, in accordance with Department policy and guidelines. The successful candidate will also have responsibility for the smooth operation of our Lemnos House facility which houses our year leaders and professional staff catering for students in our two senior schools (9-12). Highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with staff, students, parents and the community is highly advantageous to this role.

Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment.
