If you are found suitable for the role, you'll be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar vacancies that arise within Communities in the next 12 months. As part of the application process, you’ll be asked where your preferences are to work.
Qualification requirements
Under our Child Protection Workforce Model, priority will be given to qualified applicants in the first instance to maintain a qualified workforce. If you meet the essential qualification requirements by holding a relevant university qualification in social work, psychology or human services, please apply for the Child Protection Worker role. To find out more about qualification requirements, view the qualifications assessment page.
If you do not have an approved qualification please apply for the Field Worker role. Field Worker positions are located in regional offices only and are modified Child Protection Worker positions so that they can be appointed without having a relevant qualification.

Vaccinations
Applicants are advised of the recent amendment to the WA Government’s mandatory vaccination policy. From 10 June 2022 Department of Communities is impacted by the Directions made by the Chief Health Officer (CHO) under the Public Health Act 2016 (WA). As such you may be requested to confirm your vaccination or valid exemption status at any point in this recruitment process.
