The Roles

Working across the organisation, our Environment teams strive to drive positive environmental and social outcomes for current and future generations.

We have two exciting opportunities to join our growing team and contribute to the future planning of public transport services on rail, coach, buses and ferries as well as the delivery of public transport infrastructure projects.  One opportunity is a permanent position within our Infrastructure Planning and Land Services (IP&LS) Division and the other is a fixed term role within the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery (OMTID).

Environmental Officer in our Environmental Planning and Approvals Team

Our Environmental Planning and Approvals team provides specialist environmental and Aboriginal heritage advice to PTA’s business units enabling infrastructure planning and construction to proceed and supporting our construction and operational teams to comply with our environmental and Aboriginal heritage obligations and commitments.

To be successful as an Environmental Officer you will have relevant environmental expertise, including:

  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related discipline.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental and Aboriginal heritage legislation and its application.
  • Relevant, practical experience in environmental impact assessment and obtaining environmental and Aboriginal heritage approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and managing environmental and Aboriginal heritage consultants.
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental disciplines such as flora and vegetation, fauna, offsets, revegetation, contamination, groundwater management and noise and vibration.

Environment Advisor in our OMTID Project Delivery Environment Team

Our OMTID Project Delivery Environment team provides specialist environmental and Aboriginal heritage advice to the project teams delivering METRONET rail projects including the Thornlie Cockburn Link, Yanchep Rail Extension, Morley Ellenbrook Line, Byford Rail Extension and Level Crossing Removal projects. Key responsibilities for the role include compliance monitoring and reporting, provision of advice on and facilitation of environmental approvals, inspections of active construction sites, and engagement with project teams, contractors, regulators and stakeholders to ensure environmental requirements are understood and met.

To be successful as an Environment Advisor you will have relevant environmental expertise including:

  • Possession of a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related disciplines.
  • A sound understanding of environmental legislation and its application.
  • Relevant, practical experience in environmental management.
  • Knowledge and experience with a broad range of environmental issues such as flora and vegetation, fauna, contaminated sites, groundwater management, revegetation, Aboriginal heritage, asbestos and noise and vibration.

This position is a fixed term position to 30 June 2025 with the possibility of extension.
