System-wide Industrial Relations (SWIR) is looking for three enthusiastic professionals to join our team as Level 6 Industrial Relations Consultants. We currently have 4 vacancies to fill, being:
- two permanent positions; and
- two fixed term vacancies of up to 9 months with a possibility of extension and/or permanency.
About Us
SWIR is a unit within the Governance and System Support Directorate at the Department of Health and has the remit to manage system-wide industrial relations matters across the WA health system including the negotiation of WA health system industrial agreements.
SWIR operates in a fast paced, dynamic and challenging environment and no one day will be the same. You will get exposure to a variety of stakeholders and issues where you will gain valuable experience and exposure in a strategic industrial relations context. You will also gain a unique understanding of the System Manager role within WA health system.
About you
We are seeking applications from suitably experienced, enthusiastic and energetic individuals for the position of Industrial Relations Consultant. The successful applicants will provide high quality industrial and workplace relations consultancy, advisory and representation services to the System Manager and within an allocated portfolio to ensure consistent application of WA health system-wide industrial relations instruments, regulatory policy frameworks, public sector policies and related legislation. In this position, you will also assist in negotiating WA health system industrial agreements and support the development and implementation of strategies to manage complex and high-risk health workforce issues and disputes aligned with the System Manager's strategic direction.

Eligibility to Apply: Australian citizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement for applicants to be considered for permanent positions in the public sector.
All WA health system employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including the booster vaccination when they are eligible) in order to access health care facilities, pursuant to the Health Worker (Restrictions on Access) Directions (HWD) (or its replacement), COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination and Vaccination Program Policy, and the Booster Vaccination (Restriction on Access) Directions (no 2) (or its replacement) (BVD), unless the employee is exempt pursuant to the HWD and/or BVD.
Additionally, if an employee is working in a residential aged care facility, they must comply with the Residential Aged Care Facility Worker Access Directions No 4 (or its replacement).
Other Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant’s integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both options remain valid for a period of 12 months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
