We currently have 2 exciting vacancies for experienced Petroleum Engineers to join our Petroleum and Energy Compliance Branch.
We are looking for an SCL 3 Senior Petroleum Engineer and an SCL 4 Principal Petroleum Engineer.

The positions
The positions sit within our Petroleum and Energy Compliance Branch in the Resource and Environmental Compliance Division. In these roles, you will support the regulatory assessment and compliance of the WA petroleum and energy industry, including the analysis of technical information and the preparation of reports in relation to petroleum, geothermal, hydrogen and greenhouse gas geosequestration activities. You will prepare and review professional reports on assessments, audits, inspections and monitoring activities.
As an SCL 3 Senior Petroleum Engineer, you will provide high level advice to the department’s Executive, resources sector, general public and industry organisations, applying legislation relating to the resources industry. You will also undertake compliance site inspections and performance monitoring for petroleum approvals compliance with regulatory requirements.
In the SCL 4 Principal Petroleum Engineer role, you will lead and manage the implementation and engagement of petroleum, geothermal, greenhouse gas and/or energy resources reform, continuous improvement and change management approaches. You will be expected to provide expert technical advice to the department’s Executive and other stakeholders and lead and undertake complex compliance site inspections and performance monitoring of petroleum approvals for compliance with regulatory requirements. You will also demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviour and be expected to develop the capacity of others through effective mentoring and coaching.
This position is located in East Perth, (however, you may be required to work at other sites as required) conveniently close distance from public transport and nearby City of Perth parking. If you are applying for the SCL 3 Senior Petroleum Engineer position:
- Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated current knowledge of and experience in a well engineering environment including planning, design, construction, operation, management, and decommissioning of wells and well control.
- Highly-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to confidently liaise, collaborate with and communicate technical information.
If you are applying for the SCL 4 Principal Petroleum Engineer or both positions:
- Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline.
- Substantial current knowledge of and experience in a well engineering environment including planning, design, construction, operation, management and decommissioning of wells and well control.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and exchange detailed and complex technical information at a high standard and professional level, in a clear and articulate manner.
