The Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic professional to fill a position within WA Government’s Cyber Security Unit. 

The WA Government is investing $25.5m into Office of Digital Government’s Cyber Security Unit to increase the Government’s ability to prevent, detected, and respond to cyber threats. The unit is expanding into one of the largest dedicated cyber security teams in the WA Government to add new capabilities and expand existing programs. 

WA Government agencies run some of the largest networks in the state, with a diverse range of technologies managing sensitive information and services for citizens and industry. The Cyber Security Unit’s role is to assist agencies with their cyber security programs and to develop whole-of-government cyber security solutions.  

We are expanding our Technical Team with the establishment of a new Manager Cyber Security – Hunt and Incident Response position.

There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.  

Suitable applicants will be placed into a Whole-of-Government Pool which permanent and/or fixed term appointments may be made throughout DPC and across other Public Sector agencies. The pool will operate for a period of 12 months from when the breach claims period has been finalised. About the Role:  

This new position will establish and lead a specialist team focusing on providing support for cyber security threat hunting and critical cyber incident response to Public Sector Agencies. 

This team will work collaboratively with the Security Operations Centre, Threat Intelligence and Vulnerability Assessment, and the Incident Coordination Teams within the Technical team in the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of information systems risk and security controls to protect the information assets of Western Australian Public Sector Agencies.

Who we are looking for:  

An experienced Information Technology professional who has a demonstrated capability to lead a small team in the areas of cyber threat hunting and critical cyber security incident response.
