Appointment Pool
Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Facilities Coordinators for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2023.
The role of the Facilities Coordinator is to provide support to the Manager Corporate Services for the supervision of the school gardening services, including managing gardening staff. You will coordinate daily operations relating to the management and maintenance of school grounds and amenities. The Facilities Coordinator will have good interpersonal skills to liaise with service providers, contractors and stakeholders in relation to facilities management, including consideration to Occupational Health and Safety.
Kent Street SHS is a large site and the Facilities Coordinator is a vital member of the team in ensuring our grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
Kent Street SHS is proud to be an Independent Public School located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD. We cater for a diverse clientele, some who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs, or reside at the Rotary Residential College located onsite. We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area, with the ultimate aim that Kent Street becomes their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Sound ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of school buildings, grounds and facilities and the ability to investigate funding opportunities.
- Sound team management and supervisory skills, including the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Sound written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
- Sound computer skills in a range of application software packages, including spreadsheets and word processing.
- Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety as it relates to facilities and asset maintenance.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
