Mental Health Commission: The Mental Health Commission’s (MHC) vision is for a Western Australian community that experiences optimal mental health and minimal alcohol and other drug-related harms. The MHC is working towards a modern effective mental health system that places the individual and their recovery at the centre of its focus.
The strategic direction of the MHC is guided by the Western Australian Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Plan 2015-2025: Better Choices. Better Lives. This document provides a roadmap for service development, transformation and expansion of mental health, alcohol and other drug services. Implementing this Plan requires strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including all levels of Government, private and non-government, health and non-health sectors, clinicians, consumers, families and carers. The MHC’s immediate priorities to reform and improve the mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD sector) are informed by the WA State Priorities Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs 2020-2024.
About you
We are looking for a high performing leader with a background in health services management for the role of Director Treatment Services to enable the delivery of high quality and well-integrated treatment services. This position is part of the Executive Leadership Group and supports the Deputy Commissioner – Prevent, Treatment and Community Support Services and the Operations Division.
You will be leading and promoting innovation and continuous improvement across treatment services and must have the ability to recognise opportunities to enhance programs and service delivery. You would be expected to initiate and implement effective change strategies to lead the MHC’s Treatment Services Directorate. It is essential that you are highly effective in managing a range of stakeholder relationships to ensure that the MHC’s resources are utilised effectively to deliver excellence in treatment services.
As this position is deemed an occupation critical to the ongoing delivery of business and function in the community, the successful candidate is required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 31 January 2022. This requirement is pursuant to the WA Government’s Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy for WA Workforces - Group 2 industries and occupations and the MHC’s Vaccination Policy, unless exempt.
About the role
The Director Treatment Services leads the negotiation of the WA Health Service Delivery Agreement for Health Service Providers and community contracts with non-Government organisations for mental health and AOD services. From a system leader perspective, this is a significant role within the mental health and alcohol and other drugs clinical environment and influences the development of new services. The role provides leadership and works collaboratively with Health Service Provider Executives to ensure the MHC is delivering services that are system leading and meeting the needs of the community.
