Mount Claremont Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of a Primary Teacher – Music Specialist.

The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills that could be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You will ideally work effectively in a team environment as well as display quality teaching that enables students to achieve their potential. The successful applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. As a valuable member of the teaching staff and community, you will ideally exhibit a knowledge of how to plan, teach and assess the Western Australian Curriculum in Music for students from Pre-Primary to Year 6.

As our Music Specialist, the successful applicant will ideally have experience leading and conducting a choir and being involved in the massed choir or One Big Voice. You will be responsible for promoting and developing a visible presence of music within our school community, including opportunities such as music assemblies and performances. The Music Specialist will also coordinate the instrumental music program in the school on behalf of “The School for Instrumental Music”.

Mount Claremont PS provides quality education from Kindergarten to Year 6 for families from Mt Claremont and surrounding suburbs. Our motto 'We Care', ensures meaningful learning experiences and directs the student towards the pursuit of excellence. Students are involved in a variety of excursions and incursions, project work at school and in the wider community. Literacy and Numeracy, active citizenship and sustainability has been a focus in recent years.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
