We are seeking to employ 2 motivated Camera Operators, based in Midland, who have excellent communication and problem-solving skills. With a professional approach to road safety, you will:
- Set up and operate camera equipment and speed measurement devices throughout Western Australia (WA);
- Check, test and maintain the camera equipment;
- Record operational data and prepare reports;
- Attend court as a witness when required;
- Be well presented, healthy, energetic and act in accordance with the WA Police’s Code of Conduct at all times; and
- Be able to work unsocial hours including shift work and weekends.
Our ideal candidates will have:
- Well-developed written skills and effective verbal communication, interpersonal and de-escalation skills;
- Good fault finding and problem-solving skills;
- An ability and desire to work effectively both in a team and independently, with the flexibility to adapt in a changing environment; and
- A current WA Drivers Licence - C or CA class
This shift work position operates on a rotational roster basis and includes night, day, afternoon, weekends and public holiday shifts.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position contributes to the reduction of traffic crashes and fatalities on the State’s roads by maintaining the optimum operational effectiveness of traffic enforcement devices throughout WA.

Applicants are required to provide a cover letter (no more than 2 pages) outlining your skills and experience relevant to the role and a scanned copy of your WA Drivers License.
Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.
The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
All applications will be assessed on merit with the most competitive applicants invited to attend further assessment in person within the week of 4th to 8th October 2021. Applicants will need to attend in person for the further assessment process.

OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanenent, temporary, full time and/or part time) throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicants decline or vacate the advertised positions, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicants for these positions are not current WA Police Force employees. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
