Capel Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of motivated Kindergarten to Year 6 (K-6) Teachers appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Suitable applicants will be team orientated, possess excellent interpersonal skills, be highly proficient classroom managers and capable of engaging and motivating children through a wide range of teaching strategies. Experience in catering for a diverse range of student needs including students with special needs and students at educational risk is highly desired. Professional growth is a critical element in the delivery of appropriate pedagogy that will see all children being successful learners.
Suitable applicants will be expected to commit to a range of whole school approaches in literacy, numeracy and behaviour management that form the day to day culture of the school. Suitable applicants are encouraged to apply if they have specialist skills that include the Arts, Physical Education, Science and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and may be relevant to implementing the Australian Curriculum.
Key to the role is to have experience in, or understanding of, Co-operative Learning Strategies, Whole School Literacy and Numeracy programs and the integration of ICT with learning programmes. Suitable Applicants will have an ability to use a range of assessment tools as outlined in School Planning, the Staff Handbook and Capel Practice. A willingness to ‘have a go’ and draw on change management strategies will be highly regarded as will the desire to plan and teach collaboratively and work in learning teams.
In addition to these attributes, suitable applicants will have the knowledge and skills to contribute to the establishment and creating an environment that:
- Purposefully caters for different student needs as outlined in the WA Curriculum.
- Use a range of assessment and reporting methods that show student achievement and learning outcomes.
- Commitment to plan and engage in professional learning activities that support school and system priorities.
- High-level support and participation in team planning for curriculum policy and programs.
- Collaboration with members of the school community building a team environment that supports student learning.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
