Project /Contract Manager
We are one of the largest geographically spread road agencies in the world, responsible for more than 18,500 kilometres of road spread over 2.5 million square kilometres.
Our role is to plan, build and maintain Western Australia’s State Road Network valued at just over $46 billion. We work closely with our portfolio partners, Department of Transport and Public Transport Authority as well as local government to support the needs of all road users across the state by providing an integrated world-class road transport network.
Our services are delivered through the dedicated efforts of our employees who are located in ten regional and several metropolitan offices throughout the State.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Project/Contract Manager to join us in the Goldfields – Esperance Region based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
You will manage and develop a range of road infrastructure projects and contracts across the Region, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the quality standard we demand.
Your role will involve scoping, design and planning, reporting, managing finances, preparing tender documentation, managing approvals and the tendering processes.
Whilst you will be based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, you will need to travel across the Region in order to effectively manage projects.
The Project/Contract Manager position will work predominantly in the project development area, however the position may be interchanged with the delivery area based on operational requirements from time to time.
About the Goldfields-Esperance Region
The Goldfields-Esperance Region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and is the largest region in the state with a land area of 771,276 square kilometres. The region is three times the size of the state of Victoria and just under a third of Western Australia’s total land mass.
The Region includes Western Australia’s Golden Outback, which stretches from the rugged red earth around Wiluna in the north to the sweeping snow-white beaches of Esperance and the South Coast.
The Region has a long, rich association with gold mining, being the premier producer for the state. Nickel also features with strong production and healthy reserves. Agriculture and gold-related tourism are also strong contributors to the region’s economy, as well as fishing and aquaculture along the coastlines of Esperance and Ravensthorpe.

About You
We are looking for a professional with:
- Experience in project development in road and/or bridge design or construction.
- Exposure to managing resources
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively
- The ability to influence, negotiate, persuade and solve problems
- Enthusiasm, commitment and a focus on achieving results

Salary and Regional Incentives/Benefits
If you need to relocate to the Region, Main Roads will provide relocation assistance and accommodation at a subsidised rate.
In addition to your base salary and 9.5% superannuation, the following regional benefits are available:
- Your choice of a 37.5 or 40 hour working week.
- In addition to 37.5 or 40 hour week, you have the option of working an additional 3.45 hours per week to receive a Commuted Overtime Allowance of 13.5% of your annual salary paid fortnightly.
- An annual regional allowance of $2,345 per annum is applicable.
- After 12 months of service, you are entitled to an annual leave travel concession (reimbursement of the cost of return economy airfares to Perth once per annum).
- Power subsidies to assist with air conditioning, electric hot water or gas hot water bills.
- A communications subsidy per month, to assist with your telecommunications bills and keep in touch with friends and family in other locations is also available.
- Generous subsidised housing is also available.
