The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) is responsible for planning and managing land and heritage for all West Australians – now and into the future.

We are looking to establish a pool of Managers and Project Managers to join our Department within the Land Use Management division. The Land Use Management division works within a collaborative environment and is responsible for administering and managing Western Australia’s Crown land estate and Aboriginal lands held by the Aboriginal Lands Trust.
This pool will be valid for a period of twenty-four (24) months and will be used to fulfil permanent, fixed term, full-time or part-time vacancies as they arise.

As a Manager you will be responsible for leading an operational team in the delivery of complex land administration and management functions, link operational Land Use Management outcomes to the Department’s broader strategic objectives and priorities and administer delegated functions of the Minister for Lands under the Land Administration Act 1997 and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs under the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972.
To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Substantial skills and experience in developing and delivering complex land management and strategic outcomes.
- Experience in effectively leading and managing a team, ensuring goals are achieved and team members are supported to maximise performance.
- Experience in applying flexibility, initiative and sound judgement when making decisions in complex and challenging circumstances, with the ability to negotiate outcomes and deliver on priorities.
- Substantial skills and ability in effectively communicating and influencing others; building and maintaining productive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal people, pastoralists, industry and other Government agencies.
As a Project Manager you will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering contemporary, responsive and fit for purpose projects, including strategic projects that align to Divisional, Departmental and Government objectives and administer delegated functions of the Minister for Lands under the Land Administration Act 1997 and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs under the Aboriginal Affairs Planning Authority Act 1972.
To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate:
- Significant demonstrated experience leading and managing large, multiple, complicated projects in a land use administration environment.
- Flexibility, initiative and sound judgement when making decisions in complex and challenging circumstances, with the ability to negotiate outcomes and deliver on priorities.
- Substantial skills and ability in communicating and influencing others, building and maintaining productive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including Aboriginal people, pastoralists, industry and other Government agencies.
- Ability to develop and promote an overall vision for the effective delivery of strategic project goals in line with stakeholder and broader community values.
Competencies outlined in the Public-Sector Capability Profile for Level 7 are applicable to both roles i.e. shapes and manages strategy; achieves results; builds productive relationships; exemplifies personal integrity and self-awareness; communicates and influences effectively.
