JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Western Australian public sector is now seeking current Year 10 students who will be commencing Year 11 in 2021 to apply and register for a school-based traineeship in Government (Administration).

As a school-based trainee you will have the opportunity to combine your studies with paid part-time employment within the Western Australian public sector. As part of the traineeship, you will complete a Certificate II in Government (Administration) which goes towards your Western Australian Certificate of Education. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to combine practical work experience with structured training.

Benefits
• Part time employment two days a week on a trainee wage for  18 months.
• Contributes towards your WA Certificate of Education.
• Complete a Certificate II in Government (Administration) – a nationally recognised qualification. There are no exams or essays to complete.
• Gain foundation knowledge and experience of government administration.

• Potential ongoing public sector career opportunities on completion of school based traineeship and secondary education.

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

You will need to:
• be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide a copy of an Australian visa which supports traineeship employment arrangements.
• currently enrolled in Year 10 at a WA secondary school, commencing Year 11 in 2021.
• have achieved a minimum ‘C’ grade for Mathematics and English, or a minimum Year 9 NAPLAN Band 8, and/or OLNA Category 3 in your year 10, semester 1 report.

*If your school has not issued you with your subject grades in your Year 10 semester one report due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please ensure that you still attach your report. There will be an additional section in the SBT application form which your school principal will need to complete. This section requires your school principal’s endorsement, confirming that you were on track to achieving the school grade requirements in order for your application to be considered.

Have a chat to your VET Coordinator to see if you meet the eligibility criteria. For Visa holders who are not sure of their working rights to apply for the SBT contact the Public Sector Commission to discuss on 6552 8813.

You will receive confirmation once your online application has been submitted. Once applications have been assessed you will be notified via email if you have been successfully registered.
Candidates who successfully registered may be contacted by employing agencies, inviting you for an interview If you are selected by the agency, you will commence your school based traineeship in February 2021
