This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 2, 2020.
East Fremantle Primary School (PS) is seeking an enthusiastic Art teacher to join their school.
We are looking for a motivated teacher who is student oriented and an enthusiastic practitioner wanting to work in a dynamic learning environment. The successful applicant will be required to continue to implement an engaging Arts program across the school where students are involved in a range of arts based courses that potentially lead to the production of outstanding work. You must be willing to be innovative and encourage high expectations of creativity and achievement amongst our students.
Art is taken with each class from year 1-6 for lessons that are an hour in length. Visual Art is very much valued by the school and our parent community. Part of the role includes displaying art work by the students throughout the school to showcase their talent. Many of our students go onto gain places in the Specialist Art Programs at our local and selective high school, John Curtin College of the Arts.
Our Business Plan details our areas of priority and targets which include specialist teachers being an integral part of our school. Our school holds a parent organised ‘Artex’ exhibition every 2-3 years that the art teacher must be prepared to be involved with and support with all classes being involved. This is also one of our major fundraising events.
Our parent body have an active role in classrooms and support us daily. Our teachers must be prepared to embrace this at East Fremantle Primary School.
East Fremantle PS provides a unique and wonderful education to children in Kindergarten to Year 6. We take pride in our teachers and support staff. They are dedicated, experienced, caring and innovative, and they will continually deliver a high quality, stimulating and challenging learning environment for students. We continue to build the expertise of our teachers through continual training, professional development and support.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
