This is a pool recruitment process (Ref 00337). This pool will run for a period of 12 months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts, secondments, acting/relieving and permanent opportunities (full and part time).

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Contributes to the Western Australia Police Force’s (WA Police Force) achievement of service delivery standards by prioritising and assigning tasks to the most appropriate police resource.

SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

It is a requirement of this position that applicants undertake a psychological assessment to determine their suitability, and as an incumbent, agree to undergo periodical psychological assessments, as required.

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than three (3) pages:

Communication skills

Conversing effectively in a clear and concise manner often in emergency, stressful and difficult situations. Effective powers of concentration. Conveying factual information, preparing memorandums and correspondence clearly and concisely. Recording information accurately.

Ability to understand and interpret policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.

Police Manual and Intranet Web Based Standard Operating Procedures.

Organisational skills

 Assessing and tasking priority situations expeditiously and accurately. Spontaneous decision-making.

Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Accountabilities/Duties of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form may be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

OTHER CONDITIONS

The Police Operations Centre currently has two (2) positions, one (1) full-time and one (1) part-time. In addition to these two (2) vacancies, a POOL is being created to fill future vacancies that may arise within the metropolitan area. This POOL will remain active for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial appointment. Applicants who are assessed as ‘suitable’ at the completion of this process, will be placed in the POOL and may be considered for future permanent and temporary vacancies as they become available. Once an applicant within the POOL accepts a permanent vacancy offer within the metropolitan area, that applicant will be removed from the POOL. Applicants who accept a temporary vacancy will remain in the POOL. Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicants for these positions are not current WA Police Force employees. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
