The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) have come together to create an award-winning interagency graduate program.
About the program
Our 18-month graduate program aims to build the skills, experience and networks required for a successful career in the public sector. A customised rotational plan exposes graduates to a range of opportunities both internal and external to the department. The graduates support team, includes a sponsor, a mentor, a coordinator and fellow graduate buddies who will guide participants through the experience alongside a comprehensive learning and development program. The program concludes with the opportunity for a permanent position. Initial employment is on a fixed term contract with provision for permanent appointment following successful completion of the first twelve months of the program.

About the position
Looking for a challenging opportunity to utilise your analytical and problem solving skills?
The Business Innovation Directorate is seeking a recent graduate with a Bachelor degree in either Spatial Science (Spatial Analytics) or Computer Science (Software Development) (degree to be completed in the current or preceding calendar year).
The Strategic Business Innovation Group supports the Department to achieve its strategic and operational objectives by focusing on a whole-of-department strategic capability and fostering innovative thinking across the department to support DMIRS in building a high performance organisation.
On completion of the graduate program you will carry out the role of Spatial Analyst/Developer where you will utilise your spatial analyst skills to identify opportunities for improvement, develop solutions, or add value to our customers. The department holds a wealth of location data that has the potential to drive economic development, reform services and add in the achievement of strategic priorities. As the Spatial Analyst/Developer you will be:
- Delivering agency and whole of Government strategic projects and initiatives
- Supporting the transformation of DMIRS’ services so that they are customer centric
This position is located in East Perth however, you may be required to work at other sites.
