About the Role
Main Roads has created a Network Operations Directorate, which is focussed on becoming a world-class road network operator through developing improved capabilities in order to manage the exciting new challenges.
We are collecting large amounts of highly granular data relating to the Perth Metropolitan Road Network. The successful applicant will assist in the collation and management of this data via the Network Performance Reporting System (NetPRes) data factory hosted in the Azure Cloud. A key component of the role is statistical/mathematical analysis of traffic data to help identify cause and effect relationships underpinning network performance.
A key aspect of the role will be providing specialist advice to senior staff management in the form of operational insights, performance monitoring services, cost of congestion calculations and performance analysis reports/dashboards. It is critical to ensure this information is delivered in a professional, consistent and timely manner
The Network Operations Analyst may also assist in predictive modelling analysis, which will require programming expertise to codify the mathematical relationships underpinning traffic engineering theory. The applicant’s experience with standard analytical tools such as R or SAS will allow the statistical correlations within our road network performance data sets to be discovered quickly and efficiently.
About You
It is essential you have considerable experience in research, development and analysis combined with your ability to communicate with a diverse stakehder base will allow Network Operations to move towards data driven approach to decision-making, resulting in improved management, congestion and safety for Perth’s road users.
Mathematical modelling and programming along with data collection, data cleansing and database development are also critical to being successful in this role.
