This is a permanent full time vacancy.
Expressions of interest in the above appointment are invited from persons who have had at least 5 years’ legal experience, as defined in the Magistrates Court Act 2004, and who are able to demonstrate significant family law experience.
Duties: To preside over matters in the Magistrates Court, 150 Terrace Road Perth and perform the duties of a Registrar of the Family Court of Western Australia.
Location: Perth. The successful applicant will be required to undertake circuit work in regional Western Australia.
Commencement: 15 July 2019
Criteria for appointment: Applicants should possess the qualifications, experience and qualities required for appointment as a Magistrate and should address the following criteria in their written application:
- Significant family law experience;
- Proven ability to manage a heavy case load; and
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
The following criteria need not be addressed in the written application but will be assessed throughout the selection process, including interview and referee checks.
- Integrity and good character;
- Demonstrated skill, impartiality and temperament;
- Capacity to work in a case management role with Family Consultants;
- Computer skills and ability to work in a fully digital court environment and
- Ability to take an effective leadership and educational role in the community.
