The Business and Customer Services (BCS) Directorate is looking to recruit a highly energised and passionate committed Library Manager in the Corporate Information Services branch. The BCS Directorate supports the objectives and outcomes of customers by providing value for money corporate services through skilled and motivated people. The BCS aims to deliver services within an environment of standardised systems and processes.
The Library Manager role will be responsible to manage the administration functions and physical, human and financial services of the library, including monitoring and reporting on expenditure and budgets. This role is also required to establish, monitor and maintain efficient, responsive and client-focussed library and information services.
This position is for permanent employment as 0.2FTE, working Wednesday within Corporate Information Services, and requires relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for professional membership to Australian Library and Information Association.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Applicants are to demonstrate overall experience, skills and capability requirements within the context of the position:
- Well developed knowledge of contemporary trends and practices in information service delivery and experience in library management and electronic services.
- Well developed staff management, leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to work in and foster a highly productive team environment.
- Well developed skills and experience in financial management and budgeting practices.
- Well developed high-level research and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems and exercise initiative.
- Well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with an ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
