The Department of Justice, Corrective Services is seeking Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists to provide assessments and intervention to adult offenders in custody or the community. Recruitment will be over a 12 month period and successful applicants will be placed in a pool with initial appointments offered to fill current vacancies. Positions are available for full-time/part-time, permanent and contract positions.
This is a great opportunity for registered psychologists with practice endorsement or working toward practice endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia to work in a unique and dynamic work environment. You will be professionally supported through clinical and line supervision, your local team, and more generally as a member of the Psychological Services staff. The Department is able to provide supervision for practice endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Role
There are three main areas where Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists are positioned within Psychological Services Directorate. These roles are defined as:
ASSESSMENT: Psychologists provide psychological assessment services for adult offenders in either custody or the community to help inform the Courts, releasing authorities, and prison management about risk of reoffending, treatment needs, psychological functioning and the rehabilitation needs of offenders.
INTERVENTION-Custody: Psychologists deliver targeted psychological interventions to prisoners located in West Australia’s metropolitan public prisons to address outstanding treatment needs for the purposes of rehabilitation, staff safety and prisoner safety.
INTERVENTION-Community: Psychologists deliver targeted psychological interventions to community based offenders across Western Australia for the purpose of rehabilitation and to reduce risk to the community. As part of the Adult Community Psychological Services team you will be based at one of the Adult Community Corrections (ACC) centres where you will also act as a consultant to ACC staff on psychological aspects of behaviour management.
Job related requirements
To be eligible for Specified Callings 2 you must possess a four year degree in Psychology; and a two year (minimum) accredited Masters or Doctorate degree in the approved area of practice (Clinical/Counselling/Forensic) for which supervision towards endorsement is being undertaken; and have general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Please note that the Department is able to provide supervision for the purpose of endorsement.

Note that travel within the State may be required.
