Appointment Pool

Beldon Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year.
Suitable applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills and will enjoy working in a collaborative environment. As Education Assistant - Mainstream you will work closely with the teacher to help create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment. You will be required to assist with the general care and wellbeing of students.
Beldon PS is a level five school located some 25 kilometres north of the Perth CBD with an enrolment of over 330 students. The school was opened in 1985 and is close to community services and resources including public transport and the freeway. The school environment is well managed and maintained to ensure the needs of our students are well met.
The school staff work as part of a dedicated team collaborating in professional learning communities that deliver learning programs consistent with well-defined whole school approaches to pedagogy. The school staff have a “can do” approach to innovation and problem solving and pride themselves on providing an environment where each child is responded to in an inclusive manner. The student is encouraged to reach their academic potential, grow their leadership capacity and develop the skills to manage their own health and wellbeing.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals.
- Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Sound organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students.
- Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
Education Assistants working with Kindergarten Students are required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate III in Education Support (or equivalent), consistent with the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care, as determined by the Principal.
Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
