Our graduate program has been recognised Australia wide and is a joint initiative between the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, and Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation.

The position
The Private Sector Labour Relations Division is seeking a recent graduate with a Bachelor degree with a focus in industrial relations or employment relations, or an approved equivalent bachelor degree (bachelor degree to be completed in the current or preceding calendar year).

You will be working with the Private Sector Labour Relations teams assisting employers and employees to understand and meet their workplace rights and obligations, and assisting employers achieve compliance with WA employment laws. You will be involved in researching and analysing current and emerging workplace relations issues and assist in providing strategic policy advice to Government.

You will gain real world knowledge of employment relations through an opportunity to work directly with Wageline’s phone and online clients and assist with the resolution of employee claims for unpaid employment entitlements. You will use your writing skills and your creative flair to develop resources for our clients and contribute to education campaigns to promote workplace rights and obligations throughout the community. You will also gain the opportunity to work in the public sector labour relations area handling strategic industrial relations issues for Government as an employer.

  • A copy of your academic record and evidence of your bachelor degree with a focus in industrial or employment relations, or an approved equivalent bachelor degree (completed in the current or preceding calendar year).

  • A cover letter (maximum three pages) which outlines the following:
    • Why you are interested in working at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety and how it fits with your career aspirations; and
    • A description of your role in a project (university assignment is ok) that you have undertaken or participated in that demonstrates your research and communication skills.

Please note that completion of a National Police Clearance will form part of the selection process.
