About the Role
The Planning and Technical Services (PTS) Directorate provides design, engineering, environmental, asset management and surveying expertise leading to the development of integrated technical solutions and services. These services support a world class, safe, reliable and sustainable road based transport system.
The Asset and Geospatial Branch is part of the PTS Directorate that co-ordinates corporate road data and management information system needs, in particular managing the procurement, storage and provision of corporate road asset and network information and essential transport models. The team also provides technical expertise advice in engineering and mapping surveying, geospatial technologies, geodesy, data management and contextual geographical information.
We are looking for an experienced Spatial Analyst (GIS) to join our Asset and Geospatial team to provide specialist GIS technical support, research and investigation of innovative methods of utilising spatial technologies and provide user training and improvement of existing GIS business processes that supports Main Roads corporate business objectives.
About You
The successful candidate will be experienced in GIS technologies with the ability to develop cloud-based mobile GIS applications and integrate mobile applications with the existing corporate road information database. The role is also responsible for maintaining the Main Roads cloud-based data environment and assisting in the review of engineering grade corporate spatial data.
As Main Roads is focussed on building strong partnerships across the organisation, we are looking for a professional with the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders as well as develop effective training modules and provide training and support to field and junior staff.

Please also submit a statement outlining your experience in using mobile and/or cloud-based GIS applications software in relation to the three (3) criteria below, in no more than (3) pages:
- Maintaining corporate spatial data in a cloud-based GIS environment and associated applications
- Delivering mapping support and data analysis tools using spatial technologies in an open access environment
- Integrating GIS technology into corporate information environments
Please outline your eligibility for SSSI membership and submit evidence of your current motor vehicle driver’s licence and if applicable to you a copy of your Degree in Geographical Information Science or other related discipline.
