Narrogin Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Principal to join their friendly team.
As part of the administrative team at Narrogin PS, the successful applicant will support staff to continually be in the pursuit of excellence. Of particular importance will be to focus on developing successful students, excellence in teaching and learning, strong and empowering leadership across the school, and, a safe, supportive and positive learning environment with strong connections with our local community. Each of these focus areas shape our day-to-day work and in order to deliver them we commit to implementing strategies and critically reflect on our effectiveness.
The successful applicant will have the ability to create a positive culture of challenge and support, enabling effective teaching that promotes enthusiastic, independent learners, committed to lifelong learning. They will develop a culture of effective teaching, for leading, designing and managing the quality of teaching and learning, and for students’ achievement in all aspects of their development. They will set high expectations for the whole school through careful collaborative planning, monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of learning. The successful applicant will set high standards of behaviour and attendance, encouraging active engagement and a strong student voice, and work with and through others to build a professional learning community that is focused on continuous improvement of teaching and learning. They will support others to build capacity and treat people fairly and with respect, and work with others to produce and implement clear, evidence based improvement plans and policies for the development of the school and its facilities. They will embrace diversity of the wider school community and the education systems and sectors, and develop and maintain positive partnerships with students, families and carers, and all those associated with the wider school community.
Narrogin PS provides quality education for all students, based on the Australian Curriculum, maximising learning opportunities and preparing each child for life. Our curriculum caters for the social, emotional, physical, academic, cultural, and creative needs of individuals in a safe and supportive environment. We take a personal approach to encourage our students to be life-long learners and active citizens in the wider community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be appointed to other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
