Drive critical outcomes across native title and resource access

As a member of the department, you will help support the development of Western Australia’s resources sector, which oversees resource development and improved environmental outcomes for mining, petroleum and exploration for the benefit of WA and future generations.

The role
As the Team Leader Future Acts, you will be responsible for providing advice in relation to negotiations and multi-party mediation conferences over the grant of resource tenure on land subject to the operation of the Native Title Act 1993(Cth). The roles also manages operational projects and services, consulting and negotiating on resource access projects with key stakeholders, industry groups, Aboriginal native title representatives, State and local government agencies, community, and other relevant parties.

Additionally, this role contributes to the development of policy and procedures regarding the “Right to Negotiate” process, land access for resources exploration and development and procedures to facilitate the integration of native title and resource sector activities.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

Should a qualification be required for this position, applicants must provide their certification and/or academic transcripts to verify relevance to the job requirements. Qualifications obtained outside of Australia must be provided with an assessment from the Overseas Qualifications Unit to ensure they meet Australian Standards (this is a free service).

To work for DMPE, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, DMPE will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre-employment checks.
