The Opportunity

The Delivering one of the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board’s (MCB) core services, you will join the Operations Team in a critical role that supports families during one of life’s most difficult moments. Every service you deliver reflects dignity, respect and care.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and supervise a small team of Cemetery Workers, coordinating daily operations, workflows, and resource allocation.
  • Provide hands-on training, mentoring, and safety guidance, including supporting inductions for new staff.
  • Oversee burial operations including grave preparation, interments, exhumations, and crypt works, ensuring respectful and compliant delivery.
  • Ensure quality and readiness of burial sites, including inspections and coordination using the Cemetery Records System (CRS).
  • Support customer service outcomes by assisting with public enquiries and working with funeral directors and bereaved families.
  • Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards, including contributing to risk assessments and process improvements.
  • Undertake basic administrative and coordination tasks, including attendance, timesheets, leave management, and stakeholder liaison.

There is currently one (1) permanent full‑time position available for immediate filling based at Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park. This position is also responsible for managing services at Midland and Guildford Cemetery.

Applicants assessed as suitable may be considered for future permanent or fixed‑term opportunities in this or similar roles. Successful applicants may be offered positions at any MCB location including: Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park, Guildford Cemetery, Midland Cemetery, Fremantle Cemetery, Rockingham Regional Memorial Park, and Karrakatta Cemetery.

About You

  • As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
  • Completion of Certificate II Funeral Operations, or other relevant qualification, and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership by training, mentoring, and supervising a small team.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve routine operational issues while supporting the implementation of safe systems of work.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate respectfully with a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Competency in computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
