The Role

As a Big Picture Advisory Teacher, you will work with a small advisory group of approximately 17 students. Through the Big Picture Learning design, you will guide students as they develop individual learning plans, undertake real-world projects, participate in internships and build portfolios that showcase their growth and achievements.

We are seeking a versatile educator who is comfortable teaching across a range of learning areas, including combinations of:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science
• Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)

Experience in The Arts, Technologies, Vocational Education and Training (VET) or workplace learning is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Build Strong Relationships

Develop positive, trusting relationships with students and their families, providing ongoing guidance and support throughout their senior secondary journey.

Personalise Learning

Design learning experiences that connect each student's interests, strengths, and future aspirations with curriculum requirements and post-school pathways.

Facilitate Project-Based Learning

Support students to investigate real-world issues, undertake authentic projects, and present their learning through exhibitions and portfolio development.

Coordinate Internships and Industry Connections

Work with local businesses, employers and community organisations to create meaningful internship opportunities that help students explore career interests and develop workplace skills.

Support Pathways Beyond School

Assist students to plan and prepare for further education, training, apprenticeships, employment and other future pathways.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
