North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

NEMLDC is seeking to establish a pool of motivated and dedicated teachers to join our school for children who have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). We are one of five unique Independent Public Schools (IPS) providing specialist speech, language and academic intervention for children from Kindergarten to Year 2. We are not an Education Support facility, and our students typically exit to their mainstream schools at the end of year 2. Staff members work and plan collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team which includes teachers, Speech Pathologists, an Occupational Therapist, School Psychologist, Education Assistants and Administration staff. Our language programs are integrated into the Western Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

NEMLDC has over 350 students enrolled across three campuses which are co-located with West Morley, Beechboro and North Balga Primary Schools. Teachers may be placed at any campus and may change campus locations according to the needs of the school.

The Role

NEMLDC provides a specialised early intervention program for students who have a diagnosed DLD. NEMLDC has a strong focus on developing language and literacy skills within the West Australian Curriculum and Early Years Learning Framework. Our educators are committed to providing specialised language and academic intervention through a Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports framework. Suitable applicants should be committed to whole school approaches and possess a strong evidence-based approach to teaching and learning.

NEMLDC is seeking ECE Teachers with strong interpersonal skills who can foster genuine relationships with students, colleagues and families. As an Early Childhood Education Teacher, you will ideally create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, setting high expectations, while nurturing the student’s social and emotional development. You should have the capacity to use innovative technologies to enhance student learning, and you will ideally have a sound understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, EYLF and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

Suitable applicants will thrive in a culture of working within dynamic and collaborative data-informed teams to plan, implement and refine high-impact teaching strategies that maximise outcomes for students with DLD and support every child to achieve their potential. We are seeking teachers who have a growth mindset and are open to coaching, observations and feedback.

To be suitable you will ideally be flexible, energetic and prepared to engage in partnerships with colleagues, Speech Pathologists, parents and other agencies. The ability to apply current evidence-based research, including explicit teaching, to classroom practice is highly desirable. We are seeking teachers with strong classroom and positive behaviour support skills to successfully engage students and facilitate their learning.
