The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution and confiscation services.

3LG is a lower, mid-level State Prosecutor position at the ODPP.  This position is aimed at practitioners with some post admission experience in practice of criminal law or practice in another area of law, by which relevant, transferable knowledge and experience has been acquired.

State Prosecutors at this level should already have developed skills and knowledge in general practice of law.  To complement those skills and knowledge, 3LG State Prosecutors will receive structured training within a supportive environment which is particularly focussed on developing their knowledge of criminal law, practice and procedure, with an emphasis on a comprehensive understanding of the role and obligations of a prosecutor and the functions and operations of the ODPP.  Practice of law should include some experience in both counsel and solicitor roles with a focus on appearing as counsel independently on contested matters, or potential in doing so.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill other similar fixed-term and permanent full time and part time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs.
