We are currently seeking a dynamic and suitably qualified individual to join a team of Speech Pathologists across our hospitals at Mt Lawley, Royal Perth and Bentley Hospital. Initial appointment for Mount Lawley Hospital and consideration of other sites as positions arise.

About the Opportunity

In this role, the successful applicant will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide Speech Pathology services to patients requiring assessment, diagnosis, and management of communication and swallowing disorders as well as advising and training staff in relation to complex disorders and policies and procedures. Primarily based at Mount Lawley Hospital, the successful applicants will be required to provide clinical care including Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of swallowing (FEES) and Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS). The role will include planning, implementing and evaluating patient safety and quality of care processes in addition to supervising Speech Pathology staff, Allied Health Assistants and students. The successful applicant will be required to support staff across inpatient and outpatient facilities. The successful applicant will practice as a Speech Pathologist are per the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics, the Speech Pathology Australia Scope of Practice, and EMHS policies and guidelines. 

Suitability Criteria

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical expertise in evidence based assessment, intervention, care planning and support within the scope of this position.
  • Proven ability to manage a varied caseload, be responsive to operational needs and prioritise high quality, innovative service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clinical staff, patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in supervision, mentoring and training of clinical staff and students.
  • Sound judgement and problem solving skills in an operational environment with a focus on service development and progression
  • Commitment and experience in patient centred care and continuous quality improvement. 
  • Be a committed team member who values culture and has the ability to step up and provide department leadership when operationally required
