About the opportunity

We are seeking to establish a pool of suitable applicants for the role of Senior Quarantine Inspector (Markets).

In this role, you will enforce biosecurity and other delegated legislation administered by the Department. Your responsibilities will include interpreting inspection documentation against relevant legislative requirements, conducting inspections and completing certification documentation in accordance with established procedures. You will also identify opportunities to improve processes and where required represent the department in legal proceedings.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have excellent attention to detail to ensure compliance certifications are achieved at a high standard. You will also demonstrate experience interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, policies, and guidelines, and providing sound advice in dynamic environments.

Strong communication skills, the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people, and well-developed initiative and problem-solving skills in an enforcement environment are essential.

You must have the ability to obtain and maintain authorisation under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007.

This position is based at the Canning Vale Markets.  Due to the nature of the market operations, the role requires flexibility to work weekends and early morning shifts with start times as early as 4:00 AM.  The role also involves a degree of physical activity including some heavy lifting.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.

This pool will be valid for a period of twelve (12) months following finalisation of the process and may be used to fill other same/similar permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies with the possibility of extension or permanency at locations listed in this advert.  Please note, being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you a placement to a position.
