The Infrastructure Planning team delivers a range of transport planning services throughout our State. The Senior Planning and Engineering Officer will be responsible for delivering road planning projects, reporting on transport matters related to urban planning and development applications, investigating and contributing to a range of transport planning and policy issues and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

There is one permanent, fulltime position available for immediate appointment. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment. 

Personal attributes and/or organisational requirements will also be considered during the recruitment and selection process.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate: 

  1. Transport planning, traffic engineering, traffic modelling and/ or road design.
  2. Preparing and/or reviewing traffic and transport reports from a transport planning statutory viewpoint.
  3. Developing scope of works, project management and/ or contract management.
  4. Providing technical advice and recommendations to a range of stakeholders within the statutory framework.
  5. Technical report writing.
  6. A Degree in Engineering (Civil, Traffic or Transport), Transport Planning or an approved equivalent and eligible for corporate membership of Engineers Australia.
  7. Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context as outlined below.

Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations are applicable to this role and should be demonstrated in the context of Personal Leadership. The Personal Leadership context is about the work of individuals not yet in traditional leadership positions who make a direct and immediate difference to the agency. The expected behaviours may be assessed during the recruitment and selection process.

Special Requirements for this position:

The Department will conduct a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check for applicants successful to this recruitment process.
