The Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery (OMID) is responsible for planning, procurement, financing, and delivery of the State’s major infrastructure.  As the lead agency for social and non-residential infrastructure, OMID delivers high value (exceeding $100 million), highly complex or high-risk projects across the health, justice, cultural, sporting, emergency services, and primary industry sectors.  

It brings together the best of program and project management, procurement, contract management, finance, commercial, stakeholder engagement, communications, sustainability, and governance to ensure Western Australia’s infrastructure is built safely, sustainably and with maximum public benefit.

OMID delivers projects that make a real difference to every Western Australian with new hospitals, sports, culture and entertainment centres, transport upgrades and training, justice and research facilities.

OMID is a part of the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI), which is responsible for coordinating the State’s transport operations, leading strategic planning and policy development, and delivering safe and sustainable transport services as part of the wider Transport Portfolio.

The Opportunity

Play a pivotal role at the centre of government decision-making.

As the Senior Ministerial Liaison Officer, you will lead the coordination and delivery of ministerial and parliamentary business across OMID, ensuring high-quality, accurate and timely information reaches senior decision-makers.

Working closely with the Deputy Director General, senior executives, Ministerial Offices and key stakeholders, you will provide trusted advice and manage complex matters. You will also lead a small team, driving excellence, continuous improvement and a culture of responsiveness and accountability.

This is an essential role that helps ensure the organisation can respond effectively to government priorities, emerging issues and business needs. Your ability to provide strategic advice, maintain strong relationships and deliver accurate and high-quality outcomes will directly support informed decision-making.

There is currently one (1) fixed term, full time position available for immediate filling until 30 June 2029, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.

The Ideal Candidate

The panel will be assessing applicants against the following suitability requirements:

• Substantial knowledge and experience in ministerial, parliamentary and government business processes.
• Highly developed written communication skills, including the ability to prepare, quality assure and review complex correspondence, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions and reports.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify risks, manage sensitive issues and provide strategic advice to executives.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships and influence outcomes across a diverse stakeholder environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to coordinate workloads, provide guidance to team and colleagues and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Highly organised and effectively manages competing and changing priorities.
