The role
This role is in the Policy and Information branch in Private Sector Labour Relations. Our branch is a small team who work effectively together to progress strategic industrial relations policy matters and provide information to employers and employees on state employment laws.
As a Senior Labour Relations Advisor, you will be involved in developing and implementing the Western Australian Government's private sector industrial relations policy priorities.
You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of employment law and awards to provide strategic advice to the Minister for Industrial Relations and other clients, developing quality responses and written advice on significant industrial relations issues. You will also participate in reform projects on ‘big picture’ framework issues across both the state and national industrial relations systems.
Drawing on your experience in industrial relations, you will play a key role in supporting compliance with Western Australian employment laws and delivering high-quality advice to government and stakeholders.
Your research, analytical, and communication skills, together with your expertise in labour relations and employment law, will be critical to your success in this role. You will bring the ability to provide strategic advice, manage complex issues, and build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed-term, full-time or part-time) within the department and across the WA public sector for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.
Eligibility
To be eligible for fixed term employment you must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, have a valid visa to live and work in Australia for the duration of the fixed term employment at the time of application.
To be employed with LGIRS, you must meet the pre-employment requirements of the position and provide consent to undertake relevant pre-employment screening, which may include a Conflict-of-Interest Declaration, medical assessment, psychometric assessment, Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and/or other relevant checks and clearances.
