About the role
The Budgeting and Strategy team is looking for analysts and critical thinkers with a strong budgeting foundation, to work collaboratively to coordinate the Department’s budget process and deliver robust budget submissions to support the effective delivery of Justice services for the WA community.
In the role you will critically analyse financial and business information, provide clear and thoughtful advice on budget issues, and reliably execute a range of budget process related tasks including business case and budget submission review, preparation of briefing notes, costing models, budget statements and related budget adjustments.
The Budgeting and Strategy team draws from a diverse range of experience across the Office of the Auditor General, Department of Treasury and Finance, private sector commercial advisory, and a broad range of government management accounting.
To be competitive for the role we expect applicants to be degree qualified and have 5 plus years' experience in a related financial field, with government budgeting experience highly regarded.

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
Successful applicants must possess a degree in accounting or a relevant discipline.

- A statement of no more than two (2) pages addressing the following Role Specific Requirements below in the context of the Key Deliverables as listed on the JDF under the Essential Selection Criteria. Please provide examples to support your claims.
- Possession of highly developed problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills, the ability to analyse and interpret complex business data and provide reports in a timely manner.
- Substantial knowledge and experience in budget preparation within a complex organisation and analysing information, including financial and management reports.
All remaining Essential Selection Criteria listed on the JDF will be assessed at a later stage in the recruitment process.
